What is Physiotherapy?

What is Physiotherapy? What is Physiotherapy, and how can it help?

Physiotherapy is the assessment and treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions ie sprains, joint and muscle pain etc.

Physiotherapy promotes the bodies own natural healing, resulting in pain relief and a return to normality.

Where injury or disease process (ie arthritis) prevent a return to ‘normal’, physiotherapy can optimise function to allow the patient the best quality of life possible.

What can we treat?

Physiotherapy can help a great variety of problems:

Spinal Injury.

Sciatica, lumbago, Whiplash injury, headaches, arthritis, neck pain/stiffness.

Joint Problems.

Arthritis, Sprains and strains, swelling and stiffness, joint replacements.

Soft tissue injury.

Muscle tears, tendonitis, ligament strains, cartilage injury.

Sports Injury.

Tennis/Golfers elbow, ITB strain, Achilles tendonitis, Shin splints, Patellar tracking problems

The list is endless. If you have pain, stiffness, weakness or any loss of function, physiotherapy can usually help. Diagnosis is the key, once a problem can be clearly identified, a treatment plan can be established.
